ABOUT US

Child Guidance Centre (CGC) is a registered non-profit making voluntary organization established in the year 1973. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act of India with Registration No 315/1981. It is actively working for the empowerment of children and women in particular and community as a whole. The focus is on persons with disability, those who are economically poor and needy, orphan children, street children, traumatized women and old age people. It has rendered over four decades of valuable services for the rehabilitation of the disabled. This has really made us young in achieving our Motto of “Reaching the Unreached”.

The organization started as a special school for the intellectually disabled with an s aim to enable the children with Intellectual Disability be “Physically Strong”, “Mentally Active” and “Socially Competent”. The motive is to make them self-dependent, productive members of the society by providing them qualitative education and vocational training for their economic rehabilitation.

The organization scaled new heights after the year 2000The organization in its third decade of services expanded its work arena. The new Executive Committee took up several projects, gradually expanding its services for the empowerment of underprivileged including the disabled, street children, traumatized women, HIV/AIDS affected, those affected by Natural Disasters(like tsunami, drought, floods etc.) and child labour. Its services are devoid of any caste, creed and religion...

The exemplary commitment and hard work put in by the staff of Child Guidance Centre under the abled Guidance of the Management (Executive Committee) is continuing to serve towards the upliftment of the society. At present the organization is working in different districts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Manipur through its projects.

We envision a society where the disabled, the deprived and the neglected enjoy the same opportunities, privileges and rights as all other citizens in the society.


OUR MISSION

To strive towards the realization of our vision with special focus on the handicapped, the street children, the child labour, the orphans, the aged and the neglected.


AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To promote the welfare of the children who are in need of special treatment and training with a view to develop them to their fullest capacity.
  • To serve as a bureau for Andhra Pradesh for the collection, compilation and dissemination of information relating to the welfare of the intellectually disabled.
  • To help promote training and education in the field of Intellectual Disability.
  • To promote prevocational and vocational training, sheltered workshops and employment facilities for the Intellectually disabled.
  • To help acquire and develop a better supply of educational, remedial and rehabilitational equipment and literature for the Intellectually Disabled.
  • To fix awards, give and distribute prizes, scholarships and freeships in connection with Intellectual Disability.
  • To counsel the parents about the prevention of Intellectual Disability and training aspects at home for those who cannot avail institutional help.
  • After vocational training to absorb these children under sheltered workshops.
  • To encourage investigation of the causes of Intellectual Disability and promote preventive and remedial measures.
  • To promote yogic or other methods of treatment to improve physical and mental health of intellectual disability.

OUR STRATEGY

  • To undertake programmes for awareness and prevention of such disabilities, deprivation and neglect.
  • To undertake programmes for the identification, education training and rehabilitation of such persons.
  • To cooperate and collaborate with like minded organizations and individuals in the implementation of the programmes.

THE MAIN THRUST OF CHILD GUIDANCE CENTRE

  • To establish special school for the physically and mentally challenged.
  • School for street children in urban areas.
  • Development of schools in rural areas for child labor.
  • AIDS Awareness Camps.
  • Environmental Protection program.
  • Establishing Old Age homes and create income generating activities.
  • Health Camps and promotion of Herbal medicines.
  • Women and youth programs
  • Self Help programs
  • Emergency Relief programs.
  • Formal and Non-formal education.
  • Community Based Rehabilitation Program.
